Help with Home Video Channel

Quick answers for setup, Photos access, playback, and Apple TV behavior.

Contact: Email support@othersoriented.com.

Getting Started

  1. Install Home Video Channel on Apple TV.
  2. Open the app and allow Photos access when prompted.
  3. Choose an album or smart channel.
  4. Press Select during playback to reveal controls.

Photos Access

The app says Photos access is denied

Open Apple TV Settings, find the app permissions for Photos, and allow access. Then return to Home Video Channel and scan again.

I do not see my expected photos or videos

Make sure the Apple TV is signed into the Apple Account that has iCloud Photos enabled. iCloud Photos availability and syncing are managed by Apple at the system level.

The library is empty on the simulator

The tvOS simulator usually does not represent a real iCloud Photos library. Test Photos playback on a physical Apple TV signed into the correct Apple Account.

Playback

A video takes a long time to start

Large or iCloud-only videos may need to download through Apple Photos before playback begins. Network speed, file size, and iCloud availability can affect preparation time.

Remote shortcuts

App-Owned Curation

Hide, favorite, review queue, watched history, and tags are app-owned features. They do not delete, edit, or change items in your Apple Photos library.
